Saudia Airlines previously known as Saudi Arabian Airlines is the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia and is based in Jeddah. The airline was founded in 1945 as Saudi Arabian Airlines. It started with just one aircraft, the Douglas DC-3 which was gifted by President Franklin Roosevelt to King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud. It has grown to be the third-largest airline in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabian Airlines has a fleet of 144 state-of-the-art Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The fleet consists of 93 Airbus aircraft - A320-214, A321 and A330-343 and 51 Boeing aircraft - Boeing 777-368 ER and Boeing B787.

Saudia Airline Class of Travel

Saudi Arabian Airlines offers three classes of travel on all its flights. The services offered vary depending on the type of Saudia booking chosen. The different classes of travel are as follows:

Saudia First Suite

This class offers fully enclosed private suits with an 82” long seat. The in-flight entertainment system offers non-stop HD entertainment. Passengers can stay connected through the onboard WiFi service. Passengers can choose a 4-course menu or choose from a variety of meals from world-class cuisine. The crew helps to prepare the bed with a mattress and pillow.

Business Class

This class offers ergonomically designed wide seats with a generous recline and adjustable headrests that convert into fully flat beds. The in-flight entertainment system offers 24 stations of video-on-demand and 12 audio stations. Passengers can choose from Arabic, Western and vegetarian dishes. A choice of hot and cold desserts, fruits and beverages are offered. Passengers can shop from the SkySales catalogue.

Guest Class

This class offers comfortable seats with a 34” seat pitch, adjustable headrests and manually operated footrests. The in-flight entertainment system offers video, audio and online games. Passengers can choose from Arabic, Western, vegetarian dishes or a dish from the destination country. Overnight kits and children's bags are offered. Saudia Airlines Baggage Allowance

For domestic flights, Guest Class, the Basic fare type checked-in baggage allowance is 23 kg and for Flex it is 2 pieces of 23 kg each. For Business Class and the Basic fare type, it is 32 kg and for Flex it is 2 pieces of 32 kg each. For First Class, the Flex fare type is 2 pieces of 32 kg each. 

For international flights, the Guest Class, for Basic, is 23 kg, for Semi-Flex and Flex fare types it is 2 pieces of 23 kg each. For Business and First Class, the checked-in baggage allowance for all types of fares is 2 pieces of 32 kg each. 

For Domestic Flights

In Guest Class, Saver fare type, a handbag of 7 kg is allowed, the Basic fare type allows checked-in baggage of 23 kg and Flex allows 2 pieces of 23 kg each. For Business Class,  Basic fare allows 32 kg and Flex allows 2 pieces of 32 kg each. A handbag of 9 kg is allowed. First Class allows 2 pieces of 32 kg each and a handbag of 9 kg. 

For International Flights

In Guest Class, Saver fare type, a handbag of 7 kg is allowed, Basic fare allows checked-in baggage of 23 kg and Semi-Flex and Flex allow 2 pieces of 23 kg each. A handbag of 7 kg is allowed. For Business Class and First Class, all fare types the checked-in baggage allowance is 2 pieces of 32 kg each and a handbag of 12 kg. 

Additional Free Baggage

Saudi Arabian Airlines allows additional free baggage allowance for Alfursan members and patients. 

• Alfursan Gold, Silver, Elite and Elite Plus members can carry an additional 23 kg on domestic flights.

• For international flights, Alfursan Elite and Elite Plus can carry an additional 32 kg and Guest Class passengers can carry 23 kg.

• Kidney patients can carry an additional 32 kg.

Cabin Baggage

Passengers can carry hand baggage which can be kept in the cabin on a free basis.

• First and Business Class passengers can carry a handbag weighing 12 kg on international flights.

• First and Business Class passengers can carry a handbag weighing 9 kg on domestic flights.

• Guest Class passengers can carry a handbag weighing 7 kg.

Extra Baggage

Passengers can pre-purchase or purchase extra baggage at the airport. 

• For Guest Class, the extra baggage should not exceed 23 kg and should be within the standard dimensions. 

• Extra baggage exceeding 32 kg - 45 kg and dimensions will be charged a fee.

• Oversized baggage that exceeds the dimensions or weight can be shipped as cargo.

Saudia Airlines Web Check-in and Boarding Pass

Passengers with a valid and confirmed Saudia flight booking can web check-in through the airline’s website. Web check-in is available on all domestic and select international Saudia flights. 

Web check-in is available 48 hours to 1 hour before the scheduled flight departure. Passengers who require special services like a wheelchair, extra seat, unaccompanied minors, passengers travelling with pets, passengers with visual or hearing impairment and passengers requiring a stretcher cannot check-in. 

The Boarding pass is sent to the device and can be printed. At the airport, the baggage can be dropped off at the Baggage Drop-Off counter 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure.

Saudi Airlines In-flight Services

Saudi Arabian Airlines offers an in-flight entertainment system that offers video channels, audio channels and online games. Passengers can pre-book meals from a customised menu when making Saudia Airlines bookings. Complimentary hot and cold beverages are offered. The Food

The Business and First Class passengers are provided with an HD scream monitor. The screen can be controlled by touching or a personal control device.
